Vientiane - 3 Days

Vientiane, capital of Laos is Asia's biggest village. Busy and hectic in comparison to the rest of the country, it is quiet compared with any other city in Asia.  Vientiane, as all of Lao's major cities, is situated on the Mekong river which forms the lifeline of the country. Vientiane is the hub for all travel in the country. The city has a population of 450,000, about 10% of the country. So most districts that are of interest to visitors are fairly close to each other and easily accessible by foot or bicycle...

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Vientiane (G)
On arrival at Wattay Airport, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. After a short rest, we start our city tour with Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. This amazing structure features remarkable frescoes and Buddha statues. The following sight is the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. We also visit the imposing Patouxai Monument before continuing to the great sacred structure and symbol of Laos, That Luang Stupa. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 2: Vientiane - Dansavanh - Vientiane (B, L, G)
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to Nam Ngun, a huge reservoir created by damming the Nam Ngun River. This lake dotted with various stunning islands is an ideal place for anyone seeking an enjoyable escape when the heat becomes unbearable in the city. An enjoyable stop en route is Ban Keun where local people extract the salt. On arrival, you board a long tail boat for a few hour cruises to explore and admire the beautiful landscape of the lake. The return trip begins as we depart Nam Ngun and pass by Vanxang, the archeological sight dating back the 11th and 12th century. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 3: Vientiane departure (B, G)
Today, you visit the weaving village of Ban Nong Bouathong and the bustling famous morning market before your car anddriver takes you to the Wattay Airport for your departure.
